Privacy Policy

Effective date: 19 October 2026 · Applies to the website timegeltheory.org and The Observer apps for Android and iOS
In short: your data stays on our server and is never shared with other users. Each core model you select receives your message and the recent messages of that chat. Your Memory and Mirror Stones go only to The Observer's own voice. The app never deletes your chats or memory by itself; you do, at any time. We do not sell data, show ads or use tracking.

01Who we are

The Observer is a multi-model AI chat service operated by Observer Labs (Erkan Bayar), available at timegeltheory.org and as mobile apps. "We" means Observer Labs; "you" means anyone who uses the service. Privacy contact: contact@timegeltheory.org.

03Which models receive what

Answers are written by third-party AI providers acting as our service providers: OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), DeepSeek, xAI (Grok) and Anthropic (Claude, The Observer's own voice), with backup providers such as Groq and OpenRouter. Data is sent over an encrypted connection, and each provider handles it under its own terms.

04Feature by feature

FeatureWhat it usesAI model involved?
Mirror StonesNotes you write (up to 30). Each can be switched on or off; deleting one removes it.Only active stones, only to The Observer's voice
Mind TraceSimple counts from your own messages over the last 8 weeks (message length, share of questions, repeated words). Compared only with your own history, never with other users. No, computed on the server by counting
Phase TransitionsWord-based signals in your own messages (for example question and "why/how" rates). Not a personality or intelligence assessment; nothing new is stored. No, computed by counting
Model RelationsYour own activity records: which model answered, errors, response times. No, computed by counting
MemoryShort notes from your chats, shown to you and deletable. The Observer's voice only
The Sound of SilenceAfter you go quiet, at most 4 messages spread over about 2 days. Off by default. The Observer's voice writes the message
Mind Gel (test)Masked style profile; a record of which model replied to which.Mind Gel models
Ask the ObserverOnly in the Rabbit Hole, when The Observer is unsure, and only if you tick the box: that question and The Observer's answer are shown to the theory's founder. The founder's reply is delivered to you and stays under that question in the chat. Kept until answered or closed; deleting the chat removes it. If you don't tick it, nothing is sent. Some founder replies may be reused as topic notes in the Rabbit Hole, without your text. The founder's reply is weighed by a model against the theory's internal consistency
Shared Mirror (coming soon)Not built yet. Nothing is collected or shown for it today. When released it will be optional, off by default, and show only anonymous group-level patterns.n/a

Features are off until you turn them on. When Memory is off, nothing new is saved; notes saved earlier are still used until you delete them. When you switch a Mirror Stone off, it stops being sent. When The Sound of Silence is off, no messages are generated.

06Activity record and server logs

Activity record: after each turn The Observer records which core answered, how long it took, its status and score, and why the loop stopped. It does not contain message or answer text. It is kept for 90 days, and you can clear it at any time in Settings > 04.

Server logs: technical diagnostic logs (which model answered, timing, errors, and standard request data such as IP address) are kept for security and troubleshooting. They are not designed to record message text.

07Cookies and device storage

We use first-party cookies and your browser's local storage only to keep you signed in and remember your settings (language, features you turned on, guides you have seen, Memory consent). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you use Google sign-in, Google may set its own cookies under its policy.

08How long we keep data

09Your controls: export and delete

Export: download a full copy of the data linked to your account as a JSON file (Settings > Data controls). Password hashes and security keys are not included. Up to 3 downloads per hour.

Delete a chat: from its menu. The chat's Observer reports, Mind Gel trace and activity record are deleted with it.
Delete memory: remove single notes, or use Forget all.
Delete Mirror Stones: in Settings > 01.
Delete your account: left menu → profile → Delete account. Your account and the data linked to it are deleted permanently.

If you cannot sign in, email contact@timegeltheory.org from your registered address with the subject "Account deletion request"; we complete it within 30 days. Full instructions: timegeltheory.org/hesap-silme.html

10Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example the GDPR in the EU/UK or KVKK in Türkiye), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent (for example for Memory) at any time. Most of these you can do yourself in the app; for anything else, contact contact@timegeltheory.org. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

11Security

All traffic uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Access to the server and database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and fix issues quickly.

12Children

The Observer is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

13International transfers

Our AI providers and hosting may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States, under the providers' contractual and legal safeguards.

14AI content notice

Answers are generated by AI and can be wrong. The Observer tracks how consistent the models are with each other; it does not guarantee correctness. Mind Trace, Phase Transitions and Model Relations are word-count visualisations, not psychological assessments and not claims that models have feelings. Rabbit Hole is a speculative lens, not established fact. For health, legal or financial matters, consult a qualified professional. Flag any inappropriate answer with ⚑ Report.

15Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we update the effective date above and announce important changes in the app. Questions: contact@timegeltheory.org.
